Having qualified with a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics in 1994, Ghislaine has had an interesting and varied career working in the NHS, industry, as a freelancer and in voluntary roles. Her work has taken her all over the world and offered fantastic opportunities including:

  • Running a feeding programme with indigenous tribespeople in the Equadorian Amazon jungle.
  • Running a diabetic clinic with a village chief in Gambia, with the information communicated by drum across the country.

She has always had a passion for gastroenterology and nutrition support, but it was a post in a hepatology unit in Bristol that first ignited her passion for working with people experiencing homelessness.

An opportunity in a new role as a Primary Care Network Dietitian subsequently allowed her to work directly with people experiencing homelessness. Realising the paucity of research in nutrition for this population, she then began to implement new and innovate ways of assessing and supporting patients with malnutrition.

This work has led her into research and to Pathway, through which she has been extremely fortunate to meet Hannah Style, another dietitian passionate about improving access to nutrition for people experiencing food inequality. Together, they have set up and now lead the Nutrition Subgroup within the Faculty of Homelessness and Inclusion Health.
