Trudy has a number of roles with Pathway, working as the Senior Homeless Healthcare Advisor and Lived Experience Programme Lead, as well as the Medical Student Co-ordinator.
Trudy’s career within the health service has spanned over 50 years. She first trained as a nurse and midwife in the late sixties, working for over 40 years as a midwife in both hospitals and the community. Following this, she spent 15 years specialising and dedicating herself to the care of women who had experienced hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and their families. Given her expertise in this area, Trudy was involved in setting up the Leicester Maternity Hypertension Clinic. And in 2005, Trudy was awarded an MBE for services to the NHS and midwifery.
Following her illustrious career, Trudy was asked in 2008 by Prof Aiden Halligan, Pathway’s founder to join him in setting up the Pathway team at UCLH, caring for the healthcare of the homeless in hospital. Trudy has been a mainstay of the Pathway team ever since, supporting the charity as it has become a leader in inclusion healthcare.
